Regular CTC readers will know Frank McWeeny as our French Toast French host, the man with more rare 12-inches than a Pompeiian sex shop. Having regularly smashed both our CUBED and Wildlife residencies at Queen of Hoxton, it was a no-brainer to invite him along to our first ever Disco Union – a celebration of all things disco, sport, burgers and Sundays. Praise the Lord.
Ahead of the event, we asked Frank to give us the lowdown on some of his favourite disco tracks and edits, as well as a few close-to-home gems. Expect this on much more at Disco Union.
Let’s start with the basics: Your three fave disco tracks
“Simple and effective, one of my favourite disco bands. Always works and not enough people know it.”
“Pure groovy disco/funk right there!”
“Everyone can sing along to that!”
Absolutely. OK, favourite disco edit?
“Wow that’s almost impossible to answer! So I’ll go for one of the very first edits I got on vinyl. Obvious but delicious.”
Finally, fave disco track from your home nation – France?
“It’ll have to be an early French House track. I think the first one I ever heard in fact, from Thomas Bangalter, before he became one half of Daft Punk.”
