WORDS BY MICHELLE GROJEAN
Linas Strockis AKA FEW NOLDER is back on our radar with a moody slice of atmospheric techno, aptly titled “Clouds”. The second EP release from visionary imprint BOSO, Strockis follows in fellow Lithuanian MARIO BASANOV‘s footsteps, after Basanov’s “Walking With Elephants” EP proved a stellar debut for the fledgling label.
Like Basanov’s “Walking With Elephants”, (which he penned under his successful TEN WALLS alias) the tracks on “Clouds” carefully tread the line between swirling techno and shuffling house, gently stepping to the thud of a sultry 120 beat. Tossing in elements from both jazz and funk, “Clouds” is part pumping club cut, part melodic masterpiece, with the wobbly, robotic sounding “Chestnut” our favourite of the bunch. Each of the tracks stand up on their own as well as part of the set, connected by their booming bass lines and playful nuisances, the inclusion of which help keep “Clouds” a serious but joyous affair.
If you’re looking for music to lose yourself in, be it in the depths of the dance floor or from the comfort of your headphones, then Few Nolder’s “Clouds” is absolutely for you. Thundering yet tender, playful yet powerful, Few Nolder is a name not to be forgotten.
