Kicking about behind the decks for awhile, DJ and producer JASON BURNS has been consistently crafting quality remixes and catchy originals from across the Atlantic in the USA. Despite his stateside residency in Portland, Oregon, Burns’s tracks smack of UK influence, a quality that has gained him airplay on BBC Radio 1 and attention from Brit labels including newly formed imprint, LOVE AND OTHER. We got the chance to chat with Jason last week, so we thought we’d find out a few of the DJ’s favourite secret weapons. It’s time to move; here is Jason Burns’ top five tracks for the dance floor.
1. Vindata | Bad Dreams
I’ve been opening my sets with this one because it gets me so hyped. It’s a total earworm too. Always gets stuck in my head. I see big things ahead for these guys.
2. Jas Burns | Do Without (Beckwith Remix)
Beckwith did an amazing job with this remix. The bassline is a monster
3. Shiba San | Okay
Simple yet effective bassline roller.
4. Claude Von Stroke | Lay It Down Re-Smoked Feat. Dj Nehpets (Jimmy Edgar Remix)
Jimmy is one of my favorite producers right now. Everything he does just smacks.
5. Claude Von Stoke | Plasma Jelly (Eprom Remix)
Eprom is kind of a genius/pioneer and one of a short list of people who have really done creative amazing things with *gasp* “trap”. I have seen him perform a number of times and is always really fun/inspiring. I know this is a Dirtybird release but all of his stuff on Rwina is amazing as well.
